IBM Produce "Brain Chip" First

IBM is developing a microprocessor that is claimed to be close to the ability of the human brain for the first time.

The system is able to match the course structure of incoming information in a manner similar to the biological workings.

Researchers believe that by mimicking these features then the technology can begin to learn. Cognitive abilities computers can actually be used to study the habits of humans as well as observation of the environment.

Dharmendra Modha, IBM's project leader, explained that they had tried to re-create aspects of the mind such as emotions, perceptions, sensations, and knowledge by "reverse engineering the brain".

This processor is very small. Inside are 256 silicon neurons, which is certainly very much compared to the number of neurons in the human brain are billions of neurons.
