Asus NAS-M25

NAS-Asus M25 is a network attached storage (NAS) which has a size compact enough. NAS was performed with a design that looks elegant with a white bandage across his share. Asus NAS-M25 uses a plastic material that is thick around the outside so it makes it quite sturdy.

NAS output of this Asus has a minimalist design. At the front, this NAS has two buttons and three indicator lights. Function buttons to turn on and off the NAS, as well as to perform instant backup. In addition, there is also a USB ports on the front to attach additional storage media such as external hard disk or flash disk.

Asus NAS-M25 has a pretty interesting specs. NAS is equipped with a Marvell processor speed of 1.2 GHz with 512 MB of DDR2 memory. NAS is able to accommodate two hard drives with capacities of each of up to 3 TB so that if the total, the capacity to be obtained can reach 6 TB. NAS storage has three modes, namely JBOD, RAID0, and RAID1. There are also feature auto-rebuild the RAID1 mode, this feature can help restore your data if there is a damaged hard drive and must be replaced. Asus NAS-M25 supports two types of filesystems, ie EXT2 and EXT3.

Using NAS-Asus M25 is quite easy. The first time, you must install his first hard drive by opening the door of the existing hard disk space on the front. Then plug it into your computer or network. To access the control panel, you can access it via a web-browser by entering the IP address of this NAS (default 192.168.1.100).

When accessing the control panel, you'll get the main page that contains two options, namely the option to configure, or to access the media server. When entered into the Configuration menu, you will be asked to perform storage formats as well as set the desired mode. After that, you can create new folders and connect to the network.

When trying to create a shared folder, we had experienced little resistance. Once the folder is created, the folder is not accessible or connected to the computer. But after doing some reconfiguring and restarting the NAS, the folder can be accessed.

Web control panel interface of the NAS-Asus M25 is quite simple and easy to understand. There are few large menus that are placed on the right side. You can access the various features such as FTP servers, media servers, and do a reset of the disk (including even reformat and change the RAID configuration is used).

To determine its performance, we tried to test the speed of the NAS is in reading and writing data. We used two Western Digital hard drive and test it in RAID0 and RAID1 mode with EXT3 filesystem.
