NVidia Optimus




NVidia has introduced the brand-new laptop technology that can switch between on-board graphics card and a graphics card and then, depending on demand application used, to extend battery power. Nvidia article discusses about the technology, Called Optimus. Optimus facilitate the switch or make reimbursement between using a separate NVidia graphics card for 3D gaming, video or applications that require more graphics power, and another for regular computing tasks such as email and web browsing, then it can run a graphics card that does not suck much power, IE, integrated chipset graphics card in the CPU.

Hardware NVidia Optimus is a better option than switching technology found in some laptops, such as Apple, Asus, Lenovo, and Sony. Other laptop systems even require the user to reboot or log out the computer when switching between the graphics card. According to NVidia, Optimus Technology is the first automatic switch, no need to restart the laptop.

When promoting Optimus, NVidia tried to convince computer makers that Optimus Graphics Card is very flexible without sacrificing batteriy power. When the Graphics Card is not used, then feature Optimus will die. When using the NVidia Optimus, must use a motherboard that supports these technologies and the latest graphics card NVidia GeForce or newer graphics card fermi.
