Hewlett Packard will Sell PC Business Unit

Hewlett Packard (HP) status is still the world's largest PC vendor. But recently, they made a surprise announcement by the possibility of separating or sell a division of Personal Systems Group (PSG), a business unit in charge of his own PC desktops, laptops and computer accessories.

HP's board has authorized exploration of alternative strategies for the division PSG. Options available include separate or sell it to another party. The advantage is thinner than the PSG sector and focus on more profitable business enterprise to be the reason.

"The rapid changes in the personal device market continues to rise and competition grows increasingly complex, especially those in the arena of personal computing," said HP CEO, Leo Apotheker.

Shaw Wu, a financial analyst at Sterne Age estimates HP's PSG unit is worth around USD 8 billion. PC business it self is increasingly difficult to grow rapidly, due to pressure from such as iPad tablet computer or smartphone. Yes, ther is possibility HP will be like IBM. IBM's PC division originally had, then sold it to Lenovo in 2003. IBM then fully focus on business software and services that promise greater profits.

"Profit margins in the PC business is shringking, the market is already mature plagued by economic uncertainty and increasingly standardized components in the industry, " said Cassandra Mooshian, an analyst at Technology Business Research.

Still, There are companies that have more than enough money as a potential buyer HP PSG division, if true HP eventually sell it. Indeed, the move was surprising, but for some analysts is the apropriate action.
